Coming out the other side

Wow it has been a tough couple off weeks, I think combined with Eva's cold, the trip, being completely hans solo again and confronting all that I left seven months ago it has been another of those character building experiences.
 
Looking after Eva is like work, you have four weeks holiday a year to refresh and recharge, being in NZ with mum and dad and friends was much like this and I was spoilt to say the least, the only problem is it amplifies how hard it is when I am back here.
 
As we come out the other side I have to say Eva and I are closer for it and I am a better father/mother than I was a month ago, we seem to know each other more and more each day and now that Eva has her energy back she is quite the little energiser battery, today she did a great job of not having a sleep and seems none the worse for it!!!! 
 
Even more I have got better at treating Eva like a little girl and dressing her accordingly as you can see, hopefully this weekend will prove sunny I can get Mario to take a video of Eva and I riding Lance!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
 
Time to fly, have a head full of curly locks to shampoo and dry.

The emperors new clothes

I seem to be getting better at this, outfits and all, we went shopping yesterday and Eva has a heap of new (second hand) summer and winter clothing, seems to be what you need in the UK at the moment, high 20's last weekend and low teens this week.
 
We are off for a giro D'Italia mid June and cant wait, we are so excited, our friend Mario has been helping us with accommodation and local knowledge and his generosity is amazing, aiming to go to Lake Garda, Venice, the Alps, Portofino and the island of Elba for two weeks.

D Day

Having been in the UK a couple of weeks it makes it even easier and confirms my decision to return to the land of the long white cloud, family and friends and unfortunately winter.  We have booked our flights and depart on the 21st of July.
 
Eva and I look forward to making the most of the next couple of months and enjoying the summer that has finally arrived.
 
The last few weeks have been the hardest I have had in the job, Eva has been pestered by a head cold for four weeks now and seems to get rid of it only to have it appear again, this time round worse than ever so looking forward to her kicking it for good and getting on with being a happy healthy and far easier daughter.  Not too keen on feeding at least a meal a day twice! 

A very dear friend of the families passed away this morning, only in his early sixties Johhny died far too young, I spent all of my childhood and most of my adult life looking up to and being a part of his life, my earliest memories are away on the boat and spending time together, an always smiling, always happy guy gone to early.  Cancer never seems to be far away and most of us and have lost someone dear to its far reaching and posioness tentaclles.  It enforces how much we need to life for today!!!!! I am deeply sadened by his loss and my heart goes out to his wife Linzi, daughter Susie and son Steve.

Adventures in Harrogate

My nightmare has returned, Eva has had a cold on and off for almost four weeks and yesterday it returned with a vegenance, it amazes me how much snot can come out of one very small, but very cute nose, to say the least we are both over it but what can you do, soldier on and all of that.
 
So out and about we went today after the doctors, the UK is truly stunning and at the moment the tulips in Harrogate are spectacular, a bit of swing time on the way home and now it is time to try and get some dinner down.

The big day

Weddings, always fun but god damn hard work when there is two of you to get ready, we had a very special time and it was so good to have just been able to be there, it is great to see all the cousins playing together, it has been far too long.
 
Janine looked stunning and Sam not so bad either, I did my best to get a few shots of Eva and as you can see getting her to stay still is a little challenging, I will post some of the official ones when they are available.

Bath with a friend

Very special, having a great time down in Brighton and Eva is loving having Rori to play with, bath with and just hang out, a big thanks to Craig and Janine for putting us up and putting up with us.
 
Craig's birthday tomorrow followed a week later by Janine so great to be here and really good timing.

A few snap shots attached, and Rori has even worse bed hair than I do but not as bad as my niece Chloe!

Out and about in the park, we ventured into Valley Gardens this morning, freezing but fun, Eva loved playing on the swings and exploring the kids playground followed by a babycino.

LET ME OUT!

I know how Eva feels, we have been back a week, the heating has been on permanently and my last memories of NZ are relaxing on the boat in shorts and a t-shirt,  nevermind its going to warm up tomorrow, ok maybe next month.  It would be all ok if it was clear and sunny but its that grey that effects your mood, might have to make a trip to get away from it.
 
We have been getitng out albeit rugged up and enjoying the stunning flowers and colours that are spring.
 
Having settled in really well and although Eva has a cold she has a happy little chappy again, I have even got her having some bought lunches and dinners which makes travelling a heap easier so that volcano had better settle down so we can get out and about. 
 
Time to fly wake Eva then bottle time, let the fun begin.

If you have a bit of spare time this weekend and keen on a bit of motorsport my brother Mark is racing his Porsche at Hampton Downs Raceway, cheerleaders optional, the circuit is half way between Auckland and Hamilton so fire me an email if you are keen and I will get you the details.
 
Eva should be about ready to be his co-driver by the end of the year has high expectations including the fact that having fun and winning seem to go hand in hand.

The fun part, NOT

Well here we are in Harrogate, amongst the memories and all that was Karen, Eva and I, it is so strange to be here as only two and seems completely surreal, we have started the process of selling, giving, throwing and generally preparing to leave Harrogate sometime within the next one to three months.
 
This is harder than I thought it would be and I see myself struggling a little at the moment, we have come so far but the memories are still so fresh and raw.
 
It is so hard to be selling stuff that was so important and loved by Karen and I know Karen would want the possessions go to loving owners as she and I were, I have listed a few things on ebay and will start listing more as the weeks go by, our furniture is up for sale as well so if you have any interest in anything then please let me know, I intend on keeping just a few things that a sentimental to Eva and I which we will box up and send back, besides there isn't much need for a lot of this on a yacht.
 
I will send a link when I list anything on ebay so if you have interest then we can agree on a value and remove it from eby, every pound will help to keep that daughter of mine in the manor she is accustomed :-)
